Cows and birds are part of everyday village life. But as open spaces and trees disappear, many struggle to find food, water and a safe place to rest. Harsh weather can make life even harder for them.
A little care each day matters. Cattle need clean shelter, enough food, fresh drinking water and someone to look after them. Birds need quiet, safe places to nest, away from regular disturbance.
A caring community creates space for every living being to find food, protection, and a place to belong.

Creating Safer Living Spaces
A well-managed Gaushala gives cattle a clean place to live, with food, water and protection from unsafe conditions. Regular cleaning and daily care help keep the animals comfortable. Where natural nesting spaces are scarce, suitable bird nests can offer shelter. They need to be placed carefully, away from disturbance and harsh weather.

Care does not stop once a shelter or nest is built. Gaushalas need daily attention, and nests need to be checked for damage. Residents and volunteers can help by arranging fodder and water, keeping shelters clean and protecting nesting areas.
Through its Gau Shala and Bird Nest initiative, Ghar Kar Foundation encourages this everyday care. A bowl of clean water, a safe nest or a well-kept shelter may seem small, but each can make life a little safer for the animals and birds around us.
